“Excellent choice” Home is an excellent choice for reasonable, comfortable accommodation in a great location. It is on a relatively quiet road, but less than 5 minutes walk from the central plazas. Rooms are clean and bright. Although relatively modest, accommodation is perfectly adequate, and I doubt you’ll find anything of comparable value in central Queretaro. Shelley is able to provide all local information, and is happy to accommodate any needs. She was extremely flexible with me regarding last minute bookings and late arrivals, and went out of her way to find me space (she has a couple of nearby apartments, as well as rooms in Home and the house next door) at short notice. Rather than simply running a small hotel, she seems something of hub of the local community, and you’re very likely to meet local friends (Mexican or otherwise). The breakfasts are also excellent and varied, eaten communally, and usually with a Mexican flavour. All in all, the place has at least a degree of local character and identity, but is very easy to stay in as an English-speaking (or indeed, French or Spanish – since Shelley speaks all three) tourist. If you want a faceless hotel with every luxury, and don’t like speaking to anybody, then this is definitely not the place for you. If, on the other hand, you want to stay somewhere a little more interesting, then stay here. |

My wife, nephew and I stayed at "Home" for 3 nights during cool nights and rainy days. (Unusual for the city). Shelley gave us some history about the city and the main restaurants that she would recommend. We decided to look for some food at night since we were hungry and it had been a long day without food. Shelley provided us with an umbrella which was our first impression of what a nice person she is. When we came back, we were happy that the bed was very comfortable and had very warm blankets. The breakfasts were outstanding with fresh fruits cut up and presented in a different way each day. The food was delicious and Shelley shared some recipes with us to enjoy when we got back to our home. I'm not a coffee drinker but her coffee was so good that I drank it every day. Shelley was not just our chef and hostess, but became our friend as well. I highly recommend "Home" for the location, price, food and cleanliness. |

Dear Shelley: I can't tell you how much we enjoyed meeting you and staying at home. And don't get me started about the breakfasts! I can't imagine that we won't be back after having such a wonderfuul time. |

My favorite place to stay in Queretaro is Home B&B. The rooms are immaculate, economical and each has a private bath. There is on-sight, secured parking and location seems to be in the middle of everything. Wireless Internet is throughout the rooms. We also had total use of kitchen facilities and spacious dining/living room areas.
Each day started with a different, hearty breakfast. First day begin with a large pot of organic coffee, followed by fresh strawberries and pears, toasted sour dough bread with black olives, guacamole and salsa, steamed white potato slices with butter and an egg torta with squash blossoms. The next morning was totally different, with cheese quesadillas and pork loin chops, covered with fresh asparagus. Can’t remember the rest, but it was delicious.
Hostess Shelly lives at Home B & B and was always ready to answer directional or shopping questions. And she can tell exactly where to get the best meal in town. It really is home away from home. |

We had a fantastic experience in Queretaro this past August. We came across HOME on the internet and loved the pictures, so we emailed for information. Shelley, our hostess, was super gracious and helpful from the first email to the day we departed. We felt completely at home, and Shelley's chef-grade cooking (she used to be a chef, really) made all the difference. She pampered us no-end, and we'll certainly be back whenever we're in the neighborhood. |

I Keep Coming Home! My first stay was in 2007...yet, I think I have been back about 4 times since then...honestly, I've lost count. My last stay at "Home" was last summer, and as I contemplate my plans for the summer, Home included, I decided that it was about time I wrote a review. The location is excellent, allowing for me to walk to the centro, at pretty much any time of the day or night, to eat, explore, catch up with friends...relaxing atmosphere, friendly, yet professional-yummy breakfasts, catered to the needs/wants of guests. Via the "breakfast chats," I enjoyed meeting people from all over the globe, and sharing our stories of what brought us all to Querétaro-I made it once for Thanksgiving as well, and had an excellent time sharing a delicious meal with a nice mix of visitors. Super clean, internet access, and common areas allowed for even more interaction, w/o "intruding" on the personal space of others....overall, lovely experience!
Room Tip: 3rd floor is great |

Clean and Welcoming with Excellent Customer Service. I am a non Spanish speaking traveler so finding a place to stay where I could speak English was important to me. I found Home B&B on a travel site and immediately appreciated that is was located in the middle of Centro Historico, was run by a woman (I was traveling alone) that spoke English and was VERY affordable. I hit the jackpot!
Home is within easy walking distance of most sites in Centro Historico and near major bus lines. Shelley is a chef, so breakfasts were great. She knows so much history and speaks Spanish very well, so I enjoyed going out to eat with her and just chatting when I had time. She became a friend very quickly. The best part is that she knows where the good restaurants are so you can always make sure you're eating safe, delicious food. She respects your privacy and lets you come and go as you please and you really feel at home in her space.
The rooms are cool and clean and the VIEW from the third floor patio is fantastic. I don't think I'd recommend the B&B for young children, just because of the amount of concrete steps, but it is perfect for an older family or couples. |

Great Stay! We spent a long weekend at "HOME" and truely felt like we were visiting family. Traveling with 4 kids (ages 8, 6, 4, and2) is a challenge - hotel rooms don't fit and space is an issue. At "HOME" we stayed in the adjacent side so we had plenty of space - both for sleeping and living. And, of course, historic Queretaro was right outside the door. We walked everywhere and Shelley was great with recommendations for dining out and walks about town. We especially enjoyed her stories about life in Mexico. Her breakfasts were delicious - and the children really loved the extra fruit and milk she had for them. The terrace upstairs was a favorite place to hang out after the days sights and something we miss in our real home. We look forward to visiting "HOME" in Queretaro, again, soon. You know it's a hit when the kids came home asking about Ms. Shelley! |

Great Location, Economical, Comfortable. My sister and I spent a week at HOME and found the experience very enjoyable. The location is great; very close to the central historical district. We enjoyed walking through the city and visiting the fabulous 18th Century Spanish Colonial buildings and plazas.
We found the rooms at HOME to be clean, quiet, and comfortable. The neighborhood is very safe. We are both in our mid 60's and often returned to HOME after dark without any concerns for our safety.
Shelly, the propriator, is very well informed, and helpful. We had ample breakfasts with fresh fruit at every meal.
I would recommmend HOME for anyone looking for a bargain in this wonderful city. |

HOME away from home. Shelley, the owner, makes you feel very comfortable in her superbly located home in the heart of the historic center of Querétaro, within walking distance of galleries, churches, museums, etc.. Her rooms are on the small side but very clean and nicely decorated. She cooks up a great breakfast that you are likely to share with an interesting group of people from many parts of the world. She also helps you with restaurant and excursion recommendations. You get the key to her house and come and go as you wish. Rates are quite reasonable. We really enjoyed our stay. |

A true "HOME". I spent 4 nights in the "Butterfly Terrace" , after having spent 14 nights already in Mexico, mostly in Mexico City. I know some Spanish, enough to satisfy all my needs, but not enough to have conversations with locals. So, when I arrived at "HOME", I was glad to be able to talk in English to people there. Shelley is a wonderfully engaging hostess, very keen to communicate with her guests, and provide information when requested, but she never interferes with desired privacy. Her guests were also very interesting people, she obviously attracts that type of friendly people. The experience of staying in her establishment was such that it makes me want to return.
Now, about the establishment and Queretaro itself, after all this is why people initially visit a city and stay in a particular hotel or B&B.
"HOME" is located on a quiet street right in the centre of the old historical district of Queretaro, an area that should be on everyone list of places to see in colonial Mexico, and is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Centre. It is very safe to walk in the streets both in the daytime and at night, there is a lot to do (plazas, markets, museums, good inexpensive restaurants, concerts, theatre...).
"HOME" is a cozy 3-storey house with a lounge, kitchen and dining room on the ground floor. There is also additional accommodation in an adjoining house across the fenced-in parking area. The rooms are all different, decorated in a fun theme, My 3rd floor room and attached bathroom were clean, my bed was very comfortable. From the adjacent terrace there was a great view of the city, especially at sunset. The room had its individual lock and I was also given a key for the main door, so I could go in and out at will at any time. Shelley cooks a spectacular homemade breakfast, also different every day. All this comes for $45 a night single and $65 double, a real bargain. |

Best Place to Stay in Queretaro
I had the pleasure of staying there in September when I went with friends to go to the symphonie. I loved that it was in the historical section and you could walk everywhere. On top of that our hostess was a chef and made a superb breakfast. It was clean, inexpensive, safe and fun. |

Loved This Place!! Home B&B is in a super location - a couple of blocks from centro. Hostess knows the town and all that's going on - including the free entertainment - great for someone on a budget. AND it's inexpensive AND the breakfast is amazing.
Rooms are colourful, clean and comfortable - very relaxed atmosphere. There are a couple of garden terraces with lovely views to relax on. |

What a breakfast - didn't need to eat for the rest of the day. Friendly place!
I had a comfortable, clean room with bath, TV and internet on a patio with beautiful views of Querataro. The hostess was very friendly and knowledgeable about Queretaro. The location is walking distance to all the activities in the center of Queretaro. And the breakfast is wonderful, very well prepared, and all you could want.. |

The absence of me being in Queretaro is hitting me. The culture, music, colonial buildings, bold colors, kind, kind people are all to not be forgotten, including you!
Thank you for such a comfortable " HOME " to stay. We just love it down there!
I came across the name of that restaurant, El Caserio. If you don´t already know it check it out, you'll be pleasantly surprised. It´s near Av Technologico at the edge of Centro, but for us it would be a definite repeat! ´Til next time! |

Great location in the heart of charming old Queretaro, an easy walk to atmospheric plazas with great cafes, restaurants and shopping. Our downstairs room was clean and spacious with quality mattress and sheets. Our room had a big TV and a small dining table, as well as ample drawer space. The atmosphere at HOME B&B was happy and relaxed and we enjoyed meeting the other guests, a group of psychologists who were visiting. It was easy to reserve directly online. A great choice for budget travelers. EXCELLENT ratings for this hotel |

"HOME makesyou feel at home" I spent an entire month at HOME Queretaro! I enjoyed the unpretentious fun room decor that gave me the comfort of home but reminded me I was in Mexico too. It was very clean - much, much cleaner and in much better repair condition (everything worked here; toilets flushed when they're supposed to; shower heads worked, etc.) than other similarly priced bed and breakfast and hotels I stayed in during my Mexican Odyssey. I felt SO happy when I saw my clean, clean room! Though it's a B&B I still had a key to my room as well as to the front door.
You can't beat that quiet location in the heart of Centro Historico. There are several plazas within 3-4 blocks and the streets are safe; I felt perfectly comfortable walking back to HOME Queretaro in the evening by myself. Seems that there's ALWAYS something or other going on in the plazas of Centro, be it an outright concert, or street musicians and magicians. And it's always decorated for whatever current holiday is being celebrated in Mexico - seems to me there's always a holiday being celebrated.Rating: EXCELLENT Value, Rooms, Location, Cleanliness, Service |

Good Value. My husband and I had a delightful stay at this B&B for four nights. This was our first visit to Queretaro and we loved this city. The historic district is immaculate and very safe, filled with beautiful old churches and lively tree-lined squares. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. She serves interesting, authentic breakfasts with a different menu every day. The location is terrrific, in a safe, clean, quiet area in the centre of the historic district. Our room was immaculate and there is a large common living room and kitchen used by guests. During our stay we met eight other guests who all were pleased with the accommodations (some of the others were staying for up to three weeks). This may not appeal to those who are looking for a fancy hotel, but it is intimate and comfortable and a great value for the money. |

Hidden Gem. My wife and I stayed at Home B&B for 2 weeks over the Christmas season, leaving on Jan.2nd; this was after I had spent 5 days here in late November. We found the property to be perfectly located for all the historical sites around the city. Our room "Tuscany" was very nice and right next to the lounge area in the second house. We had to run the water a little to get the HOT but that's OK it was always hot. The beds were comfortable and allowed for a great sleep.
In all the days we were there I cannot remember a breakfast ever being the same ----all were delicious. The hostess and helpers were delightful and a font of information.
The weather held out for us up until New Years Day. It was lovely to walk around this city in a pleasant, dry climate and explore the many restaurants in the neighbourhood.
Liked — overall pleasantness of the place and meeting new people., Age group 65+
Would recommend this hotel to a friend, recommend for Older travelers, Families with young children, Tourists |

Best Kept Secret 'Home' B and B is a wonderful spot, just a five minute walk from downtown Queretaro. The Canadian owner, caters to your every need. There are actually two buildings across from each other with theme bedrooms, and free, secure parking in between. This was a relief for us who drove from Canada because we didn't have to park our car on the street. The B and B offers spotlessly clean rooms, with comfy beds, fluffy towels and lots of hot water-often a rarity when travelling in Mexico. There is a relaxing living area (with WIFI and cable TV), two terraces which showcase the wonderful views of Queretaro, and so many tourist sites within easy walking distance.
Shelley-a gourmet chef- prepares a wonderful breakfast which includes fresh fruit and squeezed juices, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausages, toast and pancakes on a given day, as well as endless cups of hot Veracruz coffee. Heavenly! Home B and B offers a familiar and cosy atmosphere which is such a treat when travelling in a foreign country. The price is $45us for a single and $65us for a double which is an incredible bargain. We have stayed with Shelley four times over the last two years and we plan to keep returning'Home' Thanks for always making us feel welcome and special.
Liked — Shelley catered to all our needs, Disliked — nothing, EXCELLENT ratings |

Great Place to Stay. If you are planning a trip to Querétaro, Mexico and are looking for a great deal and a comfortable stay- this is the place to stay. It was very comfortable, clean, and safe.
The owner is very friendly and a great cook. She even had toys and books available for our son. For only $65us a night you really can't find a better deal. It is a easy walk to everything that you would want to visit. The beds are comfortable and the roof terrace is a great place to relax. You can do an online search to find her website and get all the information. |

Wonderful Place My 2 college age children and I just stayed at HOME B&B in Queretaro, MX. Located right in the beautiful historic colonial district downtown, HOME is an easy walk to everything you want to see. At only $45/night, it is a great bargain. The accommodations are simple, with comfortable beds, delicious breakfasts (the owner a chef for many years), and it's scrupulously clean. There is off street parking. We stayed on Friday night, and we were treated to lots of Mexican street life - young men singing, people walking and talking. The transplanted Canadian also teaches English and is fluent in Spanish. She generously gave us a walking tour to orient us, advised us on local events and the best places to shop and eat, and introduced us to some of her neighbors. Although I speak Spanish, Shelley's guidance really helped us make the most of our brief time there. Queretaro is a treasure, sophisticated, charming, beautiful and filled with history and friendly people. Home is expanding to include Home Again, next door, which will provide 10 rooms for guests. Highly recommended for students, families, singles - anyone looking for reasonably priced accomodations and a way to ease into the Queretaro scene. |

“Your Home in Queretaro should be Home Queretaro” If you visit Queretaro, and you should, the place to stay is HOME B&B Queretaro. The owner, is a transplanted Canadian with detailed knowledge and love of the city. She also has a knack for making people feel at home. Her B&B is clean, comfortable, safe, and friendly. It is conveniently located in the center of the historic district. With rates starting at $35 per night including a terrific breakfast, you can't find a better deal. But most importantly, she has created one of those rare spaces where each guest is a welcomed member of a continually changing travelling community. There is ample space and time to interact. She knows how to make a travel experience special. If you value personal attention and the opportunity to meet others, this is the place to stay. Liked — The warm friendly atmosphere and common areas. Disliked — I liked everything! My ratings ..... across the board: EXCELLENT |

HOME B&B was a fun and colorful place to stay. The owner gave us a tour when we arrived so we got a sense of all the rooms, not just ours. Everything was clean. The rooms were all individually decorated on the two floors above the main floor where the kitchen, dining area, and lounge area were. Above the rooms was a roof-top terrace with a great view of the El Centro (old town) area. HOME lives up to its name, and we were very comfortable there. The B&B was very secure and we felt perfectly comfortable going off for the day and leaving our stuff in our rooms. There was also off street parking, which was important to us. The breakfasts were to die for, with something original and creative every morning we were there. Everything was made from fresh ingredients and produce. The owner was a very cheerful, salt-of-the-earth sort of person. She was informative and a great help to our Queretaro visit. Queretaro is a must-visit city in our opinion. Tons of culture, wonderful old architecture, and lots of activities going on in the multiple plazas. Best part was that everything was in easy walking distance from HOME. We thought HOME B&B was a great deal at $65/night. |

Great and Charismatic B&B. Just arrived home to Copenhagen after an amazing trip to beautiful Queretaro with my girlfriend. Had heard about "HOME" from an American friend so we decided to try it out and what a great decisión! In my 10 years of traveling Latin America these kinds of cozy places are truly rare. We stayed in the retro romantic Champagne Roses bedroom. The price was very good and the hotel owner was very sweet and helpful and what a breakfast she cooked up for us! The location was also perfect so overall we couldnt be happier. And the terasse... just amazing! Will return.. |

Perfect! My room was secure, clean and lovely with art on the walls and a very comfortable bed. The abundant food was beautifully presented, wholesome and delicious. It was fun to share daily adventures with the other guests. I loved the garden terrace overlooking the city where I could relax in the hammock, take photographs or listen to thunder rumble in the distance. The colonial Historic District which includes great churches, shopping and restaurants is close by. Helpful for non-Spanish speakers. Rating EXCELLENT Value, Rooms, Location, Cleanliness, Service |

“Great food, Great location, Great City.” I had planned to visit the Central Highlands and Mexico City just about the time H1N1 hit the news. Shelley, the owner of Home B&B, helped me alot in making the decision to postpone the trip for a few weeks until the dust cleared. About Home - Shelley, the hostess, is very involved with and informed about the local community, which made for a much more interesting stay. She is also an OUTSTANDING chef. Breakfasts were always a treat. Home is not fancy, but it is clean and comfortable, and is centrally located near museums, historic buildings, restaurants, etc. I can unequivocally recommend it, and, in fact, already have to friends who are thinking of travelling to the historic City of Queretaro. Geat Location, Great Value. Friends getaway We stayed here for 4 nights in October. Note that the price is much lower than shown on Trip Advisor We paid $65/night.
Shelley (the owner) made delightful breakfasts and suggested a few things that we hadn't planned. She also surprised me one day by arranging for a massage. That was a real treat! If you haven't visited Queretaro, you must. This was my second visit and I will be back. In fact Queretaro reminds me of many small towns in Spain (at about 1/3 the cost!) There are museums, churches, great restaurants and very welcoming locals. It does help to speak some Spanish, but you can get by with gestures and smiles (and patience). Excellent rating for: value, location rooms, cleanliness and service. |

Great Place to Stay. We stayed at "HOME" for 10 days and had a wonderful time. Shelley is a great host and cook, the breakfasts were different each day, and always healthful and filling. We enjoy our coffee in the morning and Shelley always made sure there was a full pot ready to go when we came for breakfast. The location couldn't have been better within a 5 minute walk to the heart of the historic district, as well as the large local market where we ate with the locals on a couple of occasions, good and very cheap food, as long as you are willing to sit at a counter shoulder to shoulder with others.
The Tuscany room we had was large with a TV, and attached to a common room where we could sit and have a drink and visit with the other guests. Shelley is very knowledgeable about the area, and gave us good tips on place to see and the good restaurants. |

We totally enjoyed our stay at Home B&B. Shelley was very helpful with directions prior to our stay and upon our arrival immediately gave us a map of Central Queretaro. She also is a great source of ideas for "what to see & do". The location couldn't have been better - just a few minutes walk to all the city center has to offer. Breakfasts were AWesome! Shelley was a chef in Canada and created delicious artful breakfasts. This is not a boutique hotel with $200+/night rates, but certainly is on the top of our list for a repeat visit. |

Three of us recently spent 2 weeks at HOME in Queretaro and were treated like visiting royalty by Shelley, its proprietor. She arranged for a professional massage for each of us. We were sent on day trips to San Miguel de Allende, a beautiful town we'd like to see more of, and to Bernal, a cute little up-and-down town featuring the 3rd largest rock in the world, and more shops and cafes than we could cram into one day. When we weren't day-tripping, we got to know Queretaro and its inhabitants. Shelley introduced us to many sites of interest, to her friend and neighbours and to behind-the-scenes glimpses we would never have found on our own. HOME became just that - comfy accommodation, tasty breakfasts and a warm and casual atmosphere that we settled into like it was our own. We have happy memories of our stay at HOME in Queretaro and will certainly return. There's no place like it! Highly recommended for anyone who doesn't feel the need for luxury accommodation at breathtaking prices. |

"Saved my bacon!" I had a wonderful three night stay at HOME. I stayed in the Butterfly Terrace room, which was a comfy home base while I was exploring around Queretaro. Shelley made wonderfully tasty and nutritious breakfasts and was a great advisor on the best places to see and places to eat in Queretaro. Her recommendations were spot on (the fondas in Plaza Garibaldi were amazing). But I'm most grateful for the way she helped me when my debit card was declined (I forgot to let my bank know I would be traveling in Mexico). I used her SKYPE to call my bank and they promptly reactivated my card. Definitely worth the visit and HOME is located conveniently in the Centro Historico. |

We booked 2 rooms and I must say the beds were very comfortable which is usually not the case in Mexico. The rooftop patio is nice and since we were the only ones in the second house at the time we had the kitchen and living area to ourselves. The TV has about 99 channels many of which are in English. Shelley is very friendly. |

“A" Home" away from home” I have just returned from a stay at HOME B & B and want to highly recommend this as a place to stay in Queretaro. I was traveling with two friends, and we each had our own room, with comfortable beds and a private bathroom at what I think was an incredible price. There was a rooftop terrace to relax and a living room with comfy couches and books. Shelley the owner is friendly and warm and made a wonderful breakfast for us. We really enjoyed chatting with her both about Queretaro and politics. She was helpful in every way. When we noted we were without an alarm clock to awaken us early to catch our plane home, Shelley not only lent us the clock but called a taxi, negotiated a good price, and set up the coffee maker so we could have coffee at 5:30 a.m. before we left for the airport. The B & B is in the Historic Center and an easy walk from most sights, restaurants and stores. |

"HOME"B&B IS home!
To start the location of ‘Home’ is ideal. It is really central; just a few minutes stroll from the absolute centre of Queretaro and very close a large local market.
The place is very nice and feels like a home. Each bedroom is decorated with its own look and feel. The roof terrace is lovely.
Breakfast is freshly cooked every morning by Shelley and what you get depends on what ingredients are fresh and perfect in the local market so you get some nice variety. It is also at a communal table which is a good opportunity to interact with the other guests from all walks of life.
As a local in the community, and having lived in other cities in Mexico as well Shelley has a great knowledge of Queretaro, Mexico and the way Mexican life works. As I had plans to stay in Queretaro for several months I found it wonderful to be able to ask questions of a friendly and knowledgeable local.
It does have the more personal/intimate feel of staying in a home rather than a hotel, so providing you don’t have unrealistic expectations of a mint on your pillow every night, I recommend Home as a very reasonably priced and pleasant place to stay in an ideally central Queretaro location. |

"Great Location and ExcellentValue" "Home" is located in the heart of Queretaro and is a great place to stay and see the city. It is just a few blocks from the 5 de Mayo and 16 de Septiembre andadors and Plaza de Armas. In the other direction you are just a short walk from the very lively Mercardo de La Cruz and the historic Iglesia de La Cruz and plaza. The accommodations are outstanding for the price and each of the rooms has been decorated in a different iconic theme. The proprietor, Shelley, is a wealth of information and set us up with Spanish lessons and a massage. The breakfast is excellent and provides a good opportunity to meet and talk to other travelers about their experiences. "Home" is truly a home away from home and one of the best values we have come across in Mexico. |

Hi all, and happy travels. This post is a plug for the Home B&B in Queretaro -- ownership is amazing there. Invaluable help regarding both travel in and around Mexico, and with a bit of a jam. I arrived "Home" after a month in Zacatecas, not the most tourist-friendly city in Mexico. I was tired and ill. Shelley instantly fed me a nourishing meal and did all she could to make me feel welcome and comfortable. She even went out and bought lactobacillus pills to aid my recovery. "Home" has the most comfortable beds I experienced in all of Mexico (maybe if you spend more than $100 a night you get good beds... I never tried that) and great lighting. The morning coffee is great, and the breakfasts.... well, you never know what you're going to get, but you can count on wonderful food and lots of it. You pay $45-$55 a night for the room, but figure you can skip lunch, so you have at least $5 more to spend on dinner at one of Queretaro's many good restaurants. "Home" usually has a group of interesting travelers, so conversations around the breakfast table are great. "Home" also has a couple of rooftop terraces for fresh air and views, a small library, and a variety of room configurations for singles, couples and families. Go "Home." You'll be glad you did. |

I just stayed at Home last week: an ideal escape! Shelley's breakfasts are awesome. She has studied nutrition, and makes it a point of pride to not repeat a menu for months on end. She'll accommodate special dietary needs (I speak from experience), and make sure you start your day with a healthy, filling, delicious meal.
This B & B has a location that can't be beat. Two blocks from a comprehensive market; three blocks from the best plaza in town — you can walk to every major (and minor) attraction in town.
I took a lot of photos of Queretaro, starting with the view from the terrazza outside my room. You can see for yourself at http://gallery.me.com/sruof#100505.
Give Home a try. Tell Shelly I sent you. |

My visit to Queretaro may be over, but my taste buds still salivate thinking of the breakfasts at "HOME"B&B. Fresh, constantly varied, nutritious, attractive, and always delicious: those breakfasts are a sensory reminder of my stay there.
Your location is ideal, within blocks of everything. And as a woman traveling alone, I always felt safe, cared about and cared for.
Queretaro is a fascinating city; it's my favorite in Mexico so far ... and I've been checking out the competition for more than a decade. Muchisimas gracias; espero regresar prontito a tu ciudad encantada.
Here's a link to the shapshots that I took. |

Buenos Dias! We woke up with lots of energy this
morning and had a great walk to the nearby market. Thank you for
suggesting it.
We want to thank you for your wonderful hospitality and friendship.
HOME feels like home.
We loved the valuable insights into Queretaro and its stories and
we LOVED our scrabble game with you at the cafe on Plaza de Armas,
listening to live Cuban music.
We'll be back now that we know of a home in Queretaro. All the best |

Thank you so much. I had a grand time beginning
each day (after a night in a very comfortable bed) with delicious
food and interesting chatter with the other guests. I found Queretaro
to be much more entertaining and teeming with culture than I expected.......
beautiful streets, templos, museums; good food and wonderful climate.
Relative quiet and clean fresh air were added pleasures. I too
enjoyed scrabble night and meeting some of your local friends.
What interesting, well-travelled women. Please give them my regards
when you meet next Wednesday. I won't hesitate to return to Queretaro
and Home B & B should the opportunity arise. My granddaughter
Rashelle feels the same. Additional thanks for letting me borrow
the book The Historian. It made my long journey home much more
pleasurable. I'm about half way through. I promise to mail it back
when I'm finished. |

The three weeks that I spent at HOME in Queretaro
were great, thanks to you! They went by so quickly. I was able to
enjoy the needed solitude up in Pineapple Plantation on the big terrace
surrounded by tropical greenery. What a view! I was also able to
find those fabulous local art instructors you reccomended. I left
you a copy of the poetry book that I illustrated. Thanks for everything!

My criteria for a good value in travel lodging are 1)
cleanliness, 2) safety, 3) location and 4) cost. As I spend little time
in my room I find it silly for me to pay for "fancy" and "expensive
perks".
And my usual lodging is hotels, not B and Bs. So I surprised myself by booking
a 5 night stay at Shelley's Home B&B Querétaro, and what a wonderful
selection it turned out to be.
Home B&B meets my 4 criteria 100 per cent. My upstairs room was clean
(as was the B&B) and sunny, with windows that opened wide and a nice
firm bed. The private bathroom also had a window that I could open wide
to let out the shower steam, as well as letting me shout to the world every
morning "buenos días".
The outside doors were structurally sound and they locked tight.
The location was as central as possible without being in the middle of
traffic noise. A 3 minute walk in one direction brings one to the churches,
plazas, restauants, shops and street vendors and a 2 minute walk in another
direct brings one to internet cafes and the largest Querétaro "mercado".
Shelley recommended a nearby laundry which delivered my clothes back to
the B&B, and she helped arrange a bi-lingual driver for a day long
outing. I know she would have done more if asked.
While my preference for food is simplicity (oatmeal/soup/juice) Shelley
prepared an outstanding and filling breakfast every morning, which included
juice, coffee and tea.
In summary I could not have picked a better place to stay than Home B&B
Querétaro. All this and at a relatively inexpensive price. I highly
recommend Shelly's B&B and will certainly stay there next time that
I visit Querétaro. ¡Thanks Shelley!
Liked — My sunny room and the location.

"Spent a few days in Queretaro and stayed with Shelley.
Listen, you heard it here - if you're in Queretaro and stay
anywhere else, you are making one big mistake. She has a nice
place, it's quiet, she'll fix you the best breakfast you will eat
in Mexico, prices are good, and she is just plain nice.
Queretaro is a beautiful colonial city that is easy to navigate
on foot and is not touristy. Sometimes I would take a photo of a
doorway, balcony, or patio I just happened to pass by because it
was so ornate and beautiful. You can get a nice view of the city
from the Mirador. If you«re into colonial churches, you will be in
hog heaven. There are also a number of interesting museums. Some
review the history of the city with an emphasis on the Independence
movement, and another one, Casa de la Zacatecana, actually involves
a murder mystery. Plenty of good eats.
I personally much prefer Queretaro to San Miguel. Don't get me
wrong; San Miguel is lovely. It's just that IMO, Queretaro is
Mexican, while San Miguel is not." |

“You are highly recommended. I really enjoyed visiting with you.
I get all excited about Queretaro and would have loved to find a
nice place to rent like you found for your New York guest, Cynthia.
I loved downtown. We walked around and sat in the park in the cool
shade. I always like the old part of towns but I realized driving
out that it’s a big city. It was wonderful, thanks for a very
enjoyable time. You have a friend in Patzcuaro. Funny when you meet
someone and it is instant like.Take care. I would love to be able
to visit again.” Barbara |

"I wanted to let all of you know that while vacationing in
Queretaro we found a great place to stay, with Shelley at "HOME".
It was a charming guesthouse for tourists in the Central Historic
area. I had read postings from guests of Shelley's on internet
forums. She is a FUN lady from Canada who remodeled and created a
nice place for tourists to stay, simply called "HOME". The location
of "HOME" couldn't be better; we were a few blocks to
everything!
This is not like staying at a fancy B&B, it's more like
visiting with your favorite sister. It is a very family-friendly
too. "HOME" has 5 bedrooms available, 2 with private baths and 3
that share a hall bath. The rooms are not huge but have good light
and big windows, which we like very much. She prepared a room
especially for us with 2 beds pushed together, that had really
comfortable mattresses. My Husband said he could not remember
sleeping so well. She has 85 channels on cable TV which was
important to us with all of the English channels. The bathroom was
spotless and new with the big fluffy towels she had described.
In the morning Shelley prepared a great breakfast of eggs,
meats, toast, fruit, fresh orange juice and great coffee, served at
the family table downstairs. We had our breakfast early so we could
go tour the delightful city. We were given a map and orientation so
we could wander through the interesting walkways, take a trolley
tour and see amazing buildings built in the 1500s. We had dinner at
a sidewalk restaurant on a historic plaza.
The whole time we were there, we had the use of the in-house
computer for checking email and telephone. There was a patio
upstairs that had tables and chairs and a wonderful view over the
city. We relaxed and watched the sunsets with a very nice man who
was staying there as well, taking pictures of the mountains and
playing soft music on his laptop computer.
The KICKER to all of this was the price; $35 per night for two
people! We would go back in a minute. When you see Shelley, tell
her Beverly says, "Hi". |

“HOME” for the Holidays! Great!-
communal sitting rooms so we all have a place to hang out. And we
have the run of the place and you won’t take any other guests while
our family is there AND you’re giving us a group discount? This is
ALL good!”
“We all got keys so we can come and go individually as we please?
Thanks for setting up that lovely baby crib and with soft sheets
and blankets. It was perfect! Thanks for helping with the baby too
and for fixing my sister up so fast when she got sick from street
food. That could have been disastrous for a nursing mother.” “HOME is just perfect! What a Wonderful Family Christmas we had!

“I changed my schedule so we can stay
four days instead of three. I may ask for one more night." Edna and
I sure enjoyed the week that we spent with you in Queretaro. What a
gal! We couldn’t believe that after mentioning that we love guitar
music, that you could arrange an instant and impromptu guitar
concert with two very talented and capable professionals -- and
they just did it because they like playing (and singing) and I’m
sure, because they consider you a good friend. They wouldn’t even
take any money when I offered it to them! That’s an evening to
remember forever I’ll tell you! Thank you missy. We’ll be seeing
you when Queretaro has its International Guitar Festival, come
Spring. |

idea! Thanks, we know he’ll be in good hands with you!"
"Thanks for taking such good care of Chris. He loved his art
classes and he’s cooked us some of the things you taught him to
make. He even washed the dishes! He’s gained over 8 pounds of
healthy weight! How did you do that? And you broke him of his candy
and Coca-cola habit! That’s a miracle!” |

more fun. We’ll spread the good news for sure! See you again in

“Hoping you have 3 rooms for your Canadian gang. Jerry and I would
like the top room again, Butterfly Terrace, we think it’s gorgeous
and so handy to the patio.

charge of the situation and had us settled into your beautiful home
with that lovely garden, treated us to wonderful meals and comfy
beds, pointed us in the right direction to enjoy the street markets
the next morning after breakfast and got a really good price on a
good and fast transmission repair. I guess it didn’t hurt that
everybody in town knew you and was your friend! I can’t think of a
